Evening all :) I'm new to this forum and new to jimnys and will be using mine mostly for lamping/shooting etc. Iv had ford rangers in the past and have always fancied a jimny, so I'm keen to see what set ups you fellow shooters have or recommend and the pros and cons of the jimny etc etc. So get ya pics out and ya techinical words and lets see what you've got!! :)

Cheers chaps/ladies!

Welcome :) I use my hardtop for lamping rabbits- yes a soft top would be better suited but I manage just fine!
Me and a mate go out, rimfires with led torches fitted to the scopes. I drive with the HMR rested on my lap with the barrel up out the window (so v safe) and my mate shoots from the passenger window. Tbh most shots can be taken in the headlights. Getting some v big bags this way so no complaints here :)

Sounds like good fun, especially if the bags are good. I may go down the soft top route as then I can get a driver, some one one the lamp and squeaking and someone in the back with the rifle. I just prefer the openness of a pick up/soft top for foxes but happily pop rabbits off all night from inside the cab.

To be fair- when I got my Jimny I only went for it as it was £400 lol :) had I been looking for one for shooting it would have been a soft top. An auto could be handy too- easier to crawl along slowly without punishing the clutch too much! You got an Hmr or a .223 for the foxes?

i use mine for similar purposes and cant really fault it. the only negatives for me would be a cramped cab and not the best suspension.
easy to maintain , relatively economical for a 4x4 and very capable.
mine has a few mods that came on it but if i were looking again i would go for a standard motor with low mileage. all you would really need to do would be get some slightly larger tyres and maybe manual hubs .

standard jimny - for now
