If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Looks good for the money £200 for full coverage OS maps. (not very detailed though.)
I use the Garmin equivalent when mountainbiking, they come into their own when you use the PC software (or Google Earth) to plan your route, then you can upload the route to the GPS to follow, along with some waypoint markers to head to.
I wouldn't be without my Garmin.
I think they are all pretty much the same now.
EDIT: When you get home you download your actual route and you can email it to your friends and view where you went on Google earth

I use the 2800, mainly for walking and cycling, it works well enough. I download higher resolution maps of the areas where I'm going.
Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

I have the Memory Map HD maps and use them on my Ipad, IPhone , and laptop, licence allows 5 devices from one purchase. Also works on Android . Regularly draw routes and email between friends, record routes we have driven and also save / email them . Lot easier to navigate on a big screen with the ipad in the car, friend struggles a bit with his Memory Map adventurer device.

I use viewranger on my android and it's great, you can get free open source maps or download OS 1:50,000 £90, / 1:25,000 tiles. £250~ It records the tracks for later use.
