Just wondering what size trailers people are towing with there Jimnys?
Looking at buying a single axle nothing to big just need it to go hunting, general stuff round the farm and want to build a removable dog box for it.
Oh and what intervals are people changing engine oil and filters? Cheers

I tow a boat trailer, sailing dinghy trailer, small box trailer and larger box trailer regularly with my Jimny. If I were to start now, I would build a flat trailer that sides could be added to when necessary and to which I could also add an enclosed structure like a tear-drop caravan. Actually, over summer I think I will make exactly that!
This way, without the sides I could put quad-bike or a couple of trailbikes on, or slip on a small camper body or attach some rollers for my small boat or ride-on mower.
Would make sure the wheels lined up with the Jimny wheels for ease of towing off-road (travel in the same ruts) and use a roll-over type of trailer connection to that trailer doesn't try to turn Jimny over in certain situations.
Then I could get rid of some of these bloody trailers

Ifor Williams P6 (6'x4') and P8 (8'x4') trailers are popular. They are strong and lightweight. However, they are un-braked and the recommended un-braked towing weight for the Jimny is a lousy 350kg. After having an accident in my Jimny with a 450kg unbraked trailer, I'd say a braked trailer is worth the extra expense! On a wet road, my stopping distance was a lot bigger than I had allowed for and I skidded straight into the back of another car. A braked trailer will allow you to tow up to 1350kg. I'd go for an Ifor Williams GD84, but cheaper trailers are available.

Check the VIN plates, mine has a max train weight of 2720kg, and a max vehicle weight of 1420, so the maximum braked trailer is (2720-1420) 1300kg.
It might be different for earlier/later cars or auto/vs manual.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

I bought a closed camping-trailer (max. load 750 kg.).
The normal price for this trailer here in Belgium is around 1100 € (around 885 £).
Then i changed the axle to a braked-axle for 200 € (160 £) so i payed about 1300 € (1050 £) for it, but for me it's worth every penny.
Certainly when it's fully loaded with camping gear and bicycles on it and your decending some mountain's like into the Pyrenees in France.
I feel much saver and have less stress during driving.
OK, 200 € (160 £) is a lot of money for a braked axle but like Busta did wrote (and sadly for him), entering a car in the front of you can cost you triple!
Just as a well meant advise, go for a braked one !!!
