Surprised nobody could confirm this - will ring dealer and report back.

Just wanted to check - am I correct that the gearbox fill plug (2005 VVT) requires a 10mm square drive for removal / replacement? Is this the same size as the drain plug? Just want to have the correct bits before I start. Thanks. J.M. PS - Is it as difficult to remove the fill plug as people make it out to be??

Yep all the same size. And yes its fiddly to get to and fill up. Best using a hand driven oil pump and feed the pipe into the filler hole.

Thanks for that GuardianAngel. Picked up a 10mm square drive at 5.00pm. Dropped the middle section of the exhaust (disconnected the sensor at the rear of the engine block) and had the fill plug out two minutes later. I was able to borrow a proper oil pump which made life very easy on fill-up. The 10mm is a perfect fit as opposed to the 3/8 ratchet option which I know a lot of people use. There is little or no risk of 'rounding' the plug when using the correct tool. I was surprised how easy it was to take off the exhaust - it looked as if all the bolts were seized, but I didn't have a problem. Thanks for your help - I was able to pick up the 10mm square drive on my way home from work without having to worry that I had got the correct size.
J.M.
