Tool Kit or Tin Can was created by Global Nomads
With 3 weeks till The Mongol Rally 'kicks off' i have had a variety of Jimny issues that could be actually be considered blessings in disguise for instance today one of the bolts supporting the shock absorbers came out and in spirit i rumbled through my store of bolts etc and found a make-do replacement which is good for now.

What i pose Guys, is what are the essential Nuts, Bolts, Washers etc that I MUST take?

Merci Gentlemen,

The Global Nomads

Do you bring the car back or leave it there and fly home?

I would take a bunch of nuts, bolts and self tappers of various sizes, 2 ratchet straps, cable ties and duct tape, you can bodge tons of stuff with that lot, enough to get you to somewhere to fix it properly and it won't take up much room.

I would do a major service including diffs and boxes, change all the belts, pulleys tensioners etc, new alternator, water pump, stat, starter and take the old ones as spares, I would also change all the bearings including kingpins better to do them here rather than in the middle of nowhere.

Obviously it's your choice and what funds will allow.

Why don't you get in touch with some specialist jimny suppliers and see if they will sponsor you some or all of the parts for their name on the side of your car?

Thanks for the help enthusiasts- with 10 days to go The Jimny is back on the "jack" and we have commenced a large final check of diffs, boxes, clutch etc.

Duct Tape & Cable Ties have come up a lot (for obvious reasons) & a selection of nuts, bolts & washers sourced.

Sponsorship has been surprisingly difficult with both the large corporations and smaller independent stores generally refraining from taking an active role.

Any advice on last minute people to ask? (In the motoring field?) (Suzuki declined already)!

Cheers,

I've helped a couple of local lads out who are doing it too...

They are in a red and silver Jimny, with a red snorkel I donated to their cause... you'll probably see them and have a natter along the way...

I have donated to your justgiving page when you first mentioned you were also doing this ;) Mine's the first donation you had! B)
