Only way to get road legal hydro is agri/plant type vehicles, but can't see it being to long before some sort of rule change as there are some production cars coming out soon that have no mechanical link that use elctro hydraulic setups.
I have had it on a few trucks for competition stuff makes a load of difference and would never go back to a steering box setup.

Its illegal because its considered unsafe because there is no mechanical linkage. Electric and electrically powered systems only lose assistance in the event of a failure and those systems are now being redesigned to provide redundancy to meet upcoming legislation.
I'm not aware of anyone intending to introduce a full hydraulic system, got any references for that?
