Would it not be easier to put the second battery in the boot ?

Easier, yes, absolutely. But most people want the Aux battery out of the way, and theres not a whole lot of room back there. On a daily basis I have my first aid kit, tool kid, recovery kit and an esky in the boot. No way would I fit it in. Not to say others can't.

Carrow wrote: Looks good, I see unlike the Jimnybits kit you have relocated the washer bottle above the exhaust manifold, so the battery can sit sideways to give room for the A/C. Does the washer bottle not suffer from the excess heat? And, is the coolant expansion bottle still on its original mount. I wonder if the original Jimnybits kit could be re-designed.

Coolant expansion bottle is in its original position. I have extractors that run a lot hotter than the stock manifold and have not had issue with the washer bottle showing any signs of melting.

Reviving a dead thread, has anyone managed to do this?

I'm thinking of using a washer bottle of a DDIS Jimny, it fits on the inside of the wing so would free up a lot of space.

If a dual battery is for the winch, why not just up size the original battery?
If it is for leisure, go half the size with an extra lithium and put it inside the car.
