A small ring gets welded to the outer lip of the rim and the tyre bead is sandwiched between that and another bigger ring that gets bolted over the top

Almost correct.
Both rings are identical in size.
Also, for some beadlock rings. You cut off the outer lip of the rim, and weld the inner ring to the rim, where the lip was.

would this solve my problem of getting dirt in my beads and tyres keep going down bloody annoying I have to brake the bead and clean them out every now and then or would bead sealing them do the job

As much as I would like these on my Jimny.. a simple question for us mere mortals in the off road world..
would tubes in our tyres be a much more pragmatic solution to keep the wheels on their beads? seems there is an internal beadlock that is in essence just a tube.. also tubes ain't going to get you in trouble on the road..
I'd still like a set Dave.. if only to sit on the mantelpiece and admire!
