Thanks all.

I've ordered an Exide, with the extra 60 CCA! The Banner in there does look to be 3 or 4 years old, so perhaps it's just had it's time.

I'd check the current draw from the vehicle when it's off and has the doors closed, you could have something pulling it down. It's certainly worth the 30 seconds to check as you're refitting the new battery. A fresh battery may disguise an issue for a while.

If the levels have been topped up from very low in 1 go then the battery won't be operating anywhere near it's full capacity, just because a charger is "happy" that the battery is charged, it doesn't mean you have quantity, or quality of power.. It's just that it's stopped pulling the amperage out the charging system and would appear to have levelled off. Battery levels have to be topped up gradually and left to do their thing (regain their acidity), too much distilled water in 1 go and it has detrimental effects on the specific gravity, the smallest drops in this drastically reduce the voltage and it's ability to take what you would call a full charge.

Cheers all.

New battery in place (looks a lot better quality than the old Banner), and drawing approx 0.02A at rest - that sounds reasonable to me. Anyone get a higher / lower figure?
