Radio and CD cutting out after a few minutes

Radio and CD player cuts out after 5/6 minutes and 2/3 minutes respectively. Will only come on again after car has been parked up for 10/15 minutes. Fascia is lit and clock works fine. Possibly something overheating ? 2007 Jimny
a) What may the problem be ?
b) Solution ?

Possibly the alternator over charging, put a volt meter across the battery and check the voltage it should be around 14.5 volts with the engine running at about 3000rpm.

Well, it isn't the alternator. Getting 14.84 through it.

Sounds like the head unit is toast. I'd just get an aftermarket one which will sound better anyway.
