2003 1.3 Jimny immobiliser problem was created by Ian47
Hi, I am new to this forum and I was hoping someone could give me any pointers as to what I should be checking.
The Jimny cut out dead while driving, after getting it home and checking it over there was a noise in the engine compartment as if a relay was clicking and the immobiliser light was flickering. When I locked and unlocked the door the light appeared to reset and it started only to stop again shortly afterwards with the same symptoms. I unlocked it again and it reset again, this time it ran for a couple of days. It cut out dead again only this time it wouldn't reset. I got it home and tried tracing the relay noise, it was a rubber relay in the engine compartment at the right hand side and when I moved it the immobiliser reset again only to cut out a few minutes later.
The vehicle is central locking not remote locking. I got a code PO301 which is an effect I would think rather than a cause.
I have not had a chance to look further into it and I will be going away for a few days so I wondered if anyone had seen this before or if there is a problem with immobilisers.
Thank you.
Ian.

That sounds more like a bad power connection, the immobiliser is only interrogated at key on.
Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Thank you for your replies, you were spot on Rhinoman, it turned out to be corroded wires on the terminal block below the fuse box in the engine compartment. It was the block with a red, white/red and white/blue wire on it.
