I'm thinking its the crank sensor. If the single cam doesn't have a crank sensor and only has a cam sensor it will be that.

i charged the battery over night sure enough it started straight away no coughing or spluttering .
i will replace it.
ME130S i think you right low voltage causing allsorts of trouble.
i didn't think it was sensor trouble because it never showed itself once started and running for hours.
