How important is the bodywork for the MOT? With a separate chassis a lot of the structural strength is there isn't it? Would a Jimny or Landy be different from a monocoque in the MOT?

I can't see the picture as my iPad won't load it.
Any corrosion within 30cm of a structural or supporting/mounting point in the vehicle (seatbelt mount for example) is a fail, also if bodywork is corroded or distorted, sharp enough to create a hazard it will fail.
I'm unsure if the fact that the body and chassis are separate makes a difference. It's down to the testers discretion there is no definitive yes or no like with a lot of mot items. Different testers will have different opinions on corrosion therefore be more or less lenient depending on the situation.
Some mot rules really are headscratchers.

I can think of ways to get that through!

An MOT tester cannot remove anything - so fit something semi-permanent over the top of that lot in the boot so he has something to move to be able to see it - which he can't so he can't see it - not from the top anyway!

Underneath you'd just cover it with Wayoyl and under seal type stuff enough before that it gets a coating of dirt and muck and doesn't look like it's just been done for the MOT. The exhaust back box is immediately below it so would hamper and prodding and poking but you would hopefully have not given a reason for him to want to prod and poke it if you've done it well enough.

I'm lucky - mine's OK!

You wouldn't want to keep it like that though as Wiltec17 says - it's a bit close to both seat belt and body mountings. It's great having a separate chassis but you want the body to stay attached to it in a crash and for the seat belts to do their job, not just pull through the floor!

This is what I meen about the mot rules being mad. This rule truelly scares me.

A customer could bring a car in with all but one wheel bolt missing, and tape the others over so the tester cannot see if the bolts are present or not. The car cannot be failed! You just have to put a note that it couldn't be checked.

Ridiculous !
