Finally found the hand book for our jimny. In it it says that the vehicle weight is between 1060 and 1105kg. I assume that is for manual vs auto. It then says gross is 1420 which gives 360kg pay load. Question, is there an allowance in that for the driver and some fuel cos the book makes no mention either way? Cheers.

Hi 11/60

Gross vehicle weight (GVW) will always refer to the total all up weight of the vehicle. That means full fuel tank, passengers, payload and any weight imposed by a trailer coupling on the rear axle, in total must not exceed 1420kg.

For example
Kerb weight 1060
35 litres fuel 26
2 x 80kg in the seats 160
Total 1246

Giving you 174 kg for extra kit before you gross out.

The other weights you quote are commonly known as kerb weight, ready to roll but not fully laden.

I have not dug out my handbook but your quoted gross weight sounds right enough.

Hope that helps

Yeah I had got that far, its just that some manufacturers include a driver and 3/4 of a tank of fuel in the kerb weight and some don't but usually the hand book tells you one way or another, mine does neither. I can get the car weighed in its normal working trim but I was hoping someone here would know which it is and save me the bother.
