Ive got this kit fitted and i find it very harsh bangs and crashes terrible.

The ES1000 is the softest. The 3000 and 9000 are wide body and much stiffer better for heavier Jimnys.

getting the best ride out of the jimny mainly comes down to shock choice and here is abit of a comparison
softest shocks to hardest shocks
Trailmaster comfort
Jimny standard shocks
Procomp ES1000
Trailmaster sport
Procomp ES3000
Rough country shocks (N20)
Procomp ES9000
best of both worlds a fully adjustable ones (like Avo shocks)

I will be going to go for Avo shocks once my bank account cools off! I want soft for off road and harder for the road due to the height/weight of my jimny.

Soft shocks for offroad makes no sense at all.
You'll want relatively soft springs, but shocks hard enough to handle the terrain. If the shocks are too soft, the suspension will bottom out even on the smallest bumps.
