What winch do you folks have? was created by ME13OSE
Going to start getting her wee winter runabout ready for the dirt! Always tried to mod my cars subtly and retain a level of "factory look" about them..

Looking on the off-road armoury site I see they have a winch bracket that retains most of the original bumper, anyone here use 1? Also what kind of winch's do you use with this bracket, and just use in general on your various other mounts....

Now, I have a Warn M8274, but this requires some mods to make it fit. It's installed in a ORA HD winch bumper.

Before that, I had a Goodwinch TDS 9.5c. An excellent winch.

It all depends on what your needs are.
For Comp use, a Warn 8274 is a good choice of winch with lots if mods. Or perhaps consider a Runva winch. Mainly sold in Australia, but they are fairly cheap, and comes with very low gear ratio of 110:1 or 80:1 So they are as fast as a modded M8274 :-)

But regarding the ORA winch plate you'll need a low-mount winch, like the Runva or Goodwinch.
I'd probably go for the Goodwinch 9.5c. Easy to upgrade with turbo-controller, bigger motor, bigger drum, air free-spool and excellent service from Goodwinch/David Bowyer :-)

It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want it for

Warn 8274 and Goldfish large drum dual voltage winches are great if you are going to do trials etc but neither of them are subtle to give you and unmodified look

for stealth then the ORA winch plate is a good plan as long as you don't have aircon and will fit any standard profile winch

I beilieve they will be bring out a plate suitable for a/c but its not on their website yet

A goodwinch goldfish 9.5c is a very good winch at £400 + Vat and then for safety a synthetic rope rather than a steel cable is £180 + vat so about £700 all in

there are cheaper winches - we have a winchmax at £375 delivered including a synthetic rope
Its slowish but steady and will pull you out of anywhere

We have a pay and play site near us at Drumclog, winch will only be used for "getting us out a hole" so to speak, no competition or other. Just for fun, hopefully it will still be around next winter to use as the winter runabout so keeping the body looking more factory would suit me better
