How have you made your home made snorkel?

As per the title!

I want to make a snorkel as no ready made one will fit my Jimny due to my cage running down the windscreen pillar that they usually run up.

I don't want it to look like poo either - so nothing is to come from B+Q - no drainpipe will adorn my Jimjam!

I measured the pipe coming off the airbox to be 70mm ED so I need 70mm ID tubing.

It needs to be tough, bearing in mind it's gonna be on the side of the truck and may rub on stuff occasionally - like trees for example - so flexible.

At the moment I have in my mind Marine Exhaust Hose from my internet searching, but I don't know how good this will be at the 90' bend from the airbox up the wing - I've never touched the stuff so don't know how well it bends etc. Anyone know?

Then I'm considering a series of P clips to attach it to the cage and maybe one on the wing and a snorkel top, obviously at the top!

Any advice would be gratefully received.

I have a hose specialist near me that I've never been to but other off-roaders I know have used, so I shall pop into them soon but would like to know what you lot have done for ideas.

I have done a search but the search button gives me 436 posts to read through for snorkels and I don't remember any recent ones!

Cheers

Kirkynut
