Starting to play... was created by smoothmover
Hi folks, I'm over here in New Zealand and have a 2012 Jimny. Despite the wife's protests am wanting to start making a few mods for offroad use (while still keeping it a daily driver for at least a couple of years - albeit with a second set of wheels and tyres for the weekend) B)

Would appreciate a few suggestions of where to start...

Lifting it seems an obvious one, but also thinking about extractors / turbo options?

Yeah definitely go for tyres and a small lift. That will make a pretty capable machine to start off with. The most important thing though is to use it as get used to how it handles offroad. As you use it you will soon find out what you think it needs to get that little bit further.

You will also need to have recovery points and a recovery strop at least. Because when you get stuck you need to be able to get out easily and safely.

Where abouts in NZ are you? I'm just in Auckland. Jimnys are becoming more popular as an offroader here which is good to see.

Josh

Hi Josh, yeah I'm in AKL too - in Albany, how bout you? Mine's stock standard right now, figure I'll do a lift first then wheels/tyres and go from there. You done mods/lift/locker yourself, or had them done?

So if i buy 31" tyres for my standard jimny to use off roading with a diff locker how am i going to get off the drive

Your best of buying the biggest lift you can fine on the market because you will only want to go higher if you fit a 2" lift
