Something I was pondering over is do the Jimny brakes cope with ginormous tyres. How much harder is it to 'lock up' the wheels?

Say you rockclimbers were careering down a slope (forget about engine braking and all the other stuff), would a 31.10.5.15 wheels combo be harder for the brakes to deal with?

Of course the brakes are affected by large tires, but the stopping power is just fine when you are offroading, because the speeds are so slow that you don't have much momentum, but on the street, it's much harder to stop the truck from higher speeds with large tires, that's for sure!

I have 33's, and I can't lock up the wheels on tarmac, no matter how hard I try! The stock brakes are kinda weak even with small wheels, so I suggest to upgrade the brakes somehow when you go for bigger wheels! I'm gonna do toyota axle swap on mine, so they automatically come with bigger brakes...

Can't say anything about ABS equipped Jimny's, because I haven't driven one with big wheels, but I assume they aren't much better...

A bigger tyre can give you a lot more grip so you can brake much harder before they will lock up.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Ive got bigger dia discs from the G wagon on the red truck with 33s and am using Jimny calipers and the stopping power is so much better than the blue truck with 31s and standard discs shame there is not a bigger disc you could fit to a jimny then simply space the caliper out would be a real cheap brake up grade
