Depends on the load but as a rule i prefer straps to bungees.

Good quality ratchet straps every time. Bungees have no place in securing objects to a vehicle. If you have to brake hard the 1st thing they do is stretch and you can kiss goodbye to what ever was on the roof. A net is only really suitable to help secure loose light weight loads in addition to ratchet straps to stop things flapping about

Thanks for your wisdom guys!
Ratchet straps it is then.
I just got my first Jimny 3 weeks ago. it is going to be both my daily driver and my adventurer so it is important I address cargo transportation.
Thanks again

Not even ratchet ones, for most Jimny sized loads i use multiple cam buckle straps, the inch wide variety you see at the shows. Less cumbersome to use and store plus easy to join together for longer reach. Obviously I also have a good selection of heavy ratchets for the big trailer but most of the stuff I need to secure is in the ten's of kilograms not the thousands of kilograms range. Also be aware that even though a properly mounted roof basket is capable of carrying a lot more weight than the factory rails an insurance loss adjuster will look long and hard to determine if you had placed more than the factory limit of 30kg up there regardless of how well it was secured and if they have any possibility of that being a contributory factor they will use it to wriggle on the claim.

Don't forget that the load limit of the Jimny roof bars is about 2 packets of crisps.
Ok, so it's a little more but it's not a lot, so be careful with how much you load on it.
