Jimny write off ?!?! was created by Rolo123
Hi all, new to the forum. Looking for advise....
My parents own a 2000 "W" green jimny 1.3. 48,000 miles. Just been in a front accident, no one hurt.
This has caused damge to mainly the bumper & crash bar, thats visable.
Car is standard, and insurance will prob issue write off total loss.
Would you take the money, or buy it back, whats it worth??
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks Mike

That would mainly depend on how much they ask for it. Sounds like minor damage and I am sure you could pick up a second hand bumper easy enough. Also depends on the damage behind the bumper, if it's limited to the bar then it would be cheap enough to replace it.

You need to have a good look at it. Headlight brackets, rad? Even then for the mileage its worth buying unless the tin worm has got at it.
Whereabouts is it? Someone on here may want to buy it either

Based in Shropshire, no damage to rad, crash bar almost touching it/. lights look fine also.
Guess the ins report will advise on what needs replacing, prob take days or weeks.
Still driveable. Dont think theres any rust on it. hardly used.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

As you say, wait for the insurance report.
The front chassis legs on a jimny are designed to collapse as a crumple zone, these can be replaced easily enough.
Crash bars do tend to bend the chassis though.
If the air bags and pre-tensioners deployed I'd let it go and buy another with the money and a bit extra.
