Hi people.
Im considering buying a brand new Jimny. Will be my first purchase of this vehicle if I go ahead with it.
Had a look around the show rooms and have a test drive booked later in the week.
Im looking at the Jimny after reading positive reviews on sites like this and I think it meets my needs, especially for winter driving over the dales and moors to persue my hobbies of photography and walking
I can get a brand new SZ3 for just under 11k or pay another 2-3K for the SZ4.
What do the seasoned owners here think of the differences between both specs?
Also any other tips on buying new appreciated, for e.g. Is it worth paying extra for a solid spare wheel cover ?
TIA
Joe

If you are not bothered about privacy glass, alloys and air-con, then go for the SZ3. But if you want air-con for the summer and get the inside windows clearer quicker in winter go for the SZ4, and auto trans is also only available on the SZ4. The colours are also different. Its all a matter of choice. As always if you would like the little "luxuries" then pay the little extra. Stonking value whatever you pick.

Hi Grumy
2-3K looks like a lot just for a trim grade option to have air-conditioning, alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and the artificial leather seats.
that being said I've a JLX+ with the artificial leather seats and they're much better than the fabric ones. However, the alloys on mine are pants, all the paint has bubbled, don't know what the new alloys are like.
The Air-con - well for several days a year in the UK it is beneficial, but I've wind deflectors on and like to have the windows open most of the time, and air con does reduce your mpg, which on a 1.3 jimny is pretty poo anyway.
if your're after a winter "road car" get a second hand 3d grand vitara
eg. SUZUKI GRAND VITARA 2.4 SZ4 3 DOOR ESTATE £14,500, Registration Date 28th Mar 2013 with 25 miles
but if you really want a bone shaker Jimny, get a second hand SX4
despite the above, you probably already know what you want to do :S
so just get the best deal you can :woohoo:

hey grumy, i work at a suzuki dealership in northwest (im only a valeter though) but youd be best to go to a few garages and bounce them off each other and dont get fooled into getting the superguard/paint protection as its usually around £299 when its available on ebay for about £20! as for the sz3 or 4 it just does depend on what little extras you want like immobiliser and extra bits like alloys or leather interior. i wouldnt bother with things like hard spare wheel cover as the disc cover thats standard is good enough and looks ok too! i wouldnt myself go for an auto id go for the manual as the auto box needs lots of revs to move and in the wet this can be fun as the jim's slip and slide a lot in 2wd. The sz4 i think it is has a bonnet scoop too not sure if its on the sz3 or not though but they recently updated the front end and looks much better than the old front.
probably doesnt help much but hope theres anything i said that can help in any way
