Cam belt or chain? was created by Fyffe
Hello lads,
I've recently got my self a x reg jimny (DOHC)
I was wondering if any of you jimny Doctors know if it would be a Cam belt or chain.
If chain what sort of mileage should it be changed at?
Currently at 66k
Thanks in advance!

If its a DOHC it will have chains, which ( in theory ) never need touching, they last the lifetime of the engine.
If theres a pretty obvious plastic cover on the front of the engine, it will have a cambelt. I don't know the service interval for them.
I have the superior chain engine

Hard top X reg's are twin cam, as is mine and I think they are the most bullet proof of the Jimny engines. I don;t want to tempt fate though!
