As much as we joke about Landrovers, I've hankered after a disco for a long time secretly for greenlaning and perhaps a little overlanding, to Iceland chasing the northern lights etc.

I love my Jimny but the lack of space gets annoying sometimes.

The rust issues with a disco 1 are rarely chassis related but more body and then the other way round with disco2's. If only they'd perfected it on the disco 2! Then it wouldn't be a Landrover I suppose!

Trouble is, after the rust, is chocolate diffs, shafts and CVs. Hence Mr Ashcroft is a rich man.

I'd like a Jap import but they are like £5k and you've still got to lift it, camel cut it, castor correct it, winch bumper and add a winch to it, stronger steering arms and a guard, diff guards.......

So the Jimny wins and stays and I await (impatiently) for ORA or Jimny Bits to finally release some heavy duty CVs.

I'd rather have a Defender 90 than a Disco. My son's mate is a franchised LR grease monkey and he's not keen on them either.

My other half had one, same year, had holes in the floor which was very handy as both of the sunroofs leaked. It helped to get the water out. Is it a LR design feature?

Honda sold some on license but you can get Jap import LR Discos too.

I'd prefer a disco over a defender. More room and comfort. A Jimny is more comfortable than a defender. How does that figure? But it is.

It's academic anyway!
