Drives like a bag of s##t on the road but simply phenomenal off road. Its a game of compromises but absolutely worth it

Still no problems doing 70 mph down the motorway as long as there are no hills. Keeps up well with traffic. Its just the size of the jimny that is the problem.

It's what you make it.
Mine has limited mods. 2" lift, steering damper and drives perfectly well on the road, even handling better than standard. Still get pretty good MPG - 250 plus to a tank as well.
Off road, I change the wheels and tyres to 195 MTs and in recent club trial (my first) I beat all the tricked up Landie boys by miles! So much so, I think they want to ban me from the club
Will it stay that way? We will see, radius arm guards going on soon to give a bit of protection. I want to fit cut down bumpers next.
I love driving my Jimny be it on or off road and I do cover a fair amount of mileage each year.
IF you go OTT on the Jimny mods it becomes more a toy and not a mode of transport (IMO).
Cheers
Paul

Hammer, nail, head. I couldn't have summed it up better myself.
Mine is horrendous, it's verging on dangerous and i wouldn't let friends or fam drive it on the road.
Track rod ends are being done on Friday, I'm praying that tightens up my steering - I already have a new ORA steering damper and had kingpins and swivals done.
Boat? Massive understatement. I have new ORA shocks and springs.
It has an enormous amount of numbness in the steering wheel and wanders according to the camber of the road.
It's the slowest thing on the road by far and equally crap on mpg (I know exactly how tractor drivers must feel)
On another note, does anyone have contact info for an admin? My account log in isn't recognised.

BigMat wrote: Just wondering how other peoples Jims drive as before i modded mine i read loads about them not handling too great etc with various springs, mods etc? I thought mine would be like a boat or all over the road and tbh i'm well happy with it?

The only thing i find that really upsets my Jimny is the tram lines down the motorways and strong cross winds. Thats with a 2 inch lift 1 inch wheel spacers and 235/75/15 mt's.
