Yea mines a pain in the ass to get in first gear, and reverse. Not a very smooth gearbox. But its clearly been built for a 4wd so its made of stronger stuff i'd imagine, making it less refined.

mines on 91k with a new clutch at 83k

Thanks to everyone for their replies, and opinions.

Having never had any 4x4, I was perhaps expecting something more car-like, but I know the Jim is "old technolgy" so I maybe shouldn't expect too much from her.

I'll mention it to the garage when she gets serviced & MOTd next month.
Would rather maintain main dealer history if I can - on such a low mileage vehicle, but don't want to be fooked when the service manager tries to play me for a new gearbox!?!

Anybody know a good independent with Suzi knowledge - in or near Edinburgh?
