Wife wanted a little 4x4 as I was running a maverick at the time... Bought her one for her mobile hairdressing job..... I had a discovery...... As it was the the thing to do for the club I was in..... Run all 3 for a while... Watching sj on the Offroad course they do well.... Siad to her try The jimny oin the play site... she got stuck on the first bump.... Disco costing me a fortune.... Engine and constant work.... She wanted a bigger car.... What do we trade in... Disco or jimny..... I had enough of the disco by then... So traded it in... She got her meriva.... I got a jimny to play with..... So glad I did all the crap from the LR lot you don't want to do that.... They soon ate their words when little jimny won all the trials and went places on play sites they couldn't get to.... Opppssss

Was chatting to someone and asked what they'd done with their Jimny as they'd just replaced it with a freelander.... Told me they were selling it for £400 and I bit their arm off!!
I love it now, awesome little car and enjoying working on it and smartening it up

My Mrs and I started off roading in a cheap old SJ410 after she saw people going home from our club and declared that she wanted to see where they came from and have a go. I call my Mrs "Little Miss Dangerous" as she has no fear!
Then came greenlaning and trips to the Lakes. We both decided something with a bit more power was needed as it would be more capable of going from Southend-on-Sea to near the Scottish border! That was confirmed when the SJ blew it's headgasket in Yorkshire on the way home.
So I bought a single cam Jimny in gold from her Mum. I put standard At's on it and went laning on my own. I didn't straddle some ruts and grounded it out on them. I didn't straddle them as they were only just visible and I couldn't believe it could get stuck on them.
It was 11:00 hours. I was in shorts, t shirt and sandals. I was 40 miles from home and had to be at work for 14:00 hours. The only item in the Jimny other than me was a medium sized flat head screwdriver. With this I dug myself out! I tore apart my tight palm on it's handle till it bled.
I fell out of love with Jimnys! It was sold!
Then articles in Total Off Road got me back in love with them and I realised they need a fair amount of modding to be as good as I needed. So I bought my current one from KAP with a 3" lift on it and proceeded to modify it to where it is now. It could now happily enter standard class winch challenges and the only thing left to do is heavy duty CVs.
I've been back in love with them since I bought this one in 2008. The longest I've ever owned a car!

Used to run with LR's, built a DAKAR (had money then) but could not do anything too extreme as the nice gelcoat fibreglass body cost £1500 to replace!! Sold it and purchased a bobtailed pick up, fantastic but would cost to much to get it back on the road so it had to be towed or trailered everywhere. So i sold that as well! wife loved off roading and it was really the only thing that we did together, what with work and kids and all the rest of life. anyway i bought an old scooby a couple a years ago spent a bit on it, looked good and went really well but the wife hated it because i just could not drive sensibly in it, had to rag the poor girl everywhere (the car not the wife).
Anyway it was decided that the Scooby would have to go, and we (well the wife) decided we would buy something that we could go greenlaning of a weekend and do the shopping in the week. So the Jimny fitted the bill perfectly, had plenty of stick off all my buddies after having big V8's then a 2L turbo and now a 1.3 Jim, but have been out with a couple of them and they changed their minds after seeing first hand the Jim's offroad ability and Jim is totally standard a the moment! To be honest i am very pleased and suprised with it as well, cannot wait to spend a few bob on it to improve it's off roading abilty.
