I was watching a film crew the other day and some of the guys came over to check out my Morris 8 Series E Saloon. Anyway, turns out the same crew will be working on a period movie set in the early 50's and they asked if I would let them use my car in a couple of scenes, just parked in the background. They offered good terms so I accepted and "Laury the Morry" will get his first acting start :woohoo:
Here's "Laury". We have had him since new, Dad bought him 14th March 1946.
The paint on "Laury" is original, with a bit of a story attached to it. Seems that immediately after the war normal supplies of paint were a bit difficult. The "Kookaburra" stove company went broke and my car was painted with stove enamel, each panel done individually and then baked. The paint is approximately 1/16th " thick and will probably outlast the Planet  It still looks new with a polish. I have the original plates, purchase receipt and every receipt since purchase all kept chronologically in a brown case. Also, all the original tools and grease-gun etc. Did the motor up last year, combined the best of 3 gearboxes, fitted new diff, new axles, had tailshaft balanced, shockers re-furbished, new brake linings fitted and this weekend fitted "Accuspark" electronic ignition inside the original Lucas DKYH4A dizzy. This was a special production as the car is still 6volt positive to earth but the folks at "Accuspark" in the UK are brilliant and really rose to the challenge.
