2" Springs was created by styks08
Hi again all.
Did a search but couldn't find all the info I'm looking for.

I've have fitted 40mm spring spacers from Rus at the mo and have just fitted some 215 75 R15 Maxis Puma tyres.
They only just miss the front bumper and I think I would like to fit some +2" springs to give it just a tad more lift, that extra 10mm would be just nice I think, plus I'd feel better about having springs only.

I've been looking at springs on several sites but confused about which would be best. Rus said that his upgraded springs are for folks with big winch bumpers / winch's and other bits that increase body weight significantly.
The KAP ones say " An excellent choice for the road-going Jimny (with occasional off-roading looking for street appeal)." The Trail master ones are much more money but if they are the best I could just stretch to those.

My later fittings will include the winch bumper plate from ORA, the one which retains the factory bumper.
A T Max 9000 or 9500 winch, if those fit the plate ok (can't afford WARN etc).
Some rock sliders and T box/diff armour etc.
Oh, and a KAM diff lock possibly later on.

That's about as far as I want to go really. I won't be doing anything really extreme but want it fairly capable for green lane'ing.

I have some Hydro 8000 shocks coming from Llama, David talked me into those and said they would be ok if I fit 2" lift springs later, not sure if then I'll need rear shock re-positioning brackets ??

I think I read on here that the factory springs are made in such a way as to prevent lean, the drivers side spring being rated differently, is that correct?
If yes which +2" springs also compensate for lean, KAP, Jimnybits or Trail Master?

Taking into account the above could anyone recommend the best set of springs ?

Also from reading here, some say that castor correction is best be fitted ( I find it fine with these 40mm spacers) and some say no not needed at 2". It's appears to be a matter of "how you feel" and of more importance if a +3" lift is fitted.
Do I have that about right?

Your guidance would be appreciated.

Give martin a shout at the big-jimny shop for your 2"springs
Castor correction
Bushes are used with a 2" lift and are a good idea but it is your choice
Above 2" and its new arms

From what i have found out and i have s that the ora spring on the drivers front is longer to compensate for the lean

My old suspension had a 2"spaceer in the front divers side to lift it up

Id go for the ora 2.5" mudskipper lif kit its a good price and you get every thing you need and if you look at the springs n the picone is longer

Spoke to Martin today and he does not stock +2" springs, not much call for them, 3" being the most popular.

I'm holding off on the castor correction bushes for now, I'll see how it feels and fit after if I don't like it's on road manners.

Hi markyp2000. Had I acted my age I'd have taken the advice I was given when I first joined, but no still a 50 year old kid!
I have seen the mudskipper kit and possibly I would have been better off going that route initially. I have already on the way from Llama Rough country Hydro 8000 shocks, will be with me Tuesday.

I've spoken with Rus at Jimnybits and his spring set has the longer off side front spring to compensate for the lean so I've ordered a set of those from him plus he's been good enough to take back the 40mm spacers in PX. His service and help have been great so I'm happy to give him the business.

David at Llama said the Hydro 8000 shocks are ok for the +2" springs (I asked thinking I might swap to full springs eventually) but I forgot to inquire if the rear shock re-position brackets would give a little more travel with no spring dislocation.
He advised against using them with the 40mm spacers because that was possible.

I guess the Hydro 8000's are standard and not the long travel ones described in the ORA 2.5" Mudskipper add. Does anyone know if I could safely use the re-position brackets with these Hydro 8000's running +2" springs without fear of dislocation?? ............ I know it's only an extra 10mm lift over the spacers, just wondering.
