I think i will try the two batteries linked together first.. If this does not suit me i can always change to a split charge system later.

You cannot just link 2 batteries together unless they are both exactly the same make and size else they will discharge each other... Easiest split charge system I have seen seems to be the t--max system...

Truck or tractor batteries are 12v, they just double them up for 24v. They are also very cheap and give out great amperage. I only just removed mine due to wanting boot space for my 2 dogs. Downside with these batteries is they weigh a ton. I shall now be fitting a gel odyssey battery on the nearside of the engine bay.

+1 on the PC1500. But of course it depends on your budget. I've only used the winch twice and have so far had no need to have 2 batteries for my rescue missions!

Cheers sponnie. Like your thinking..
Ive been on and off the net all day getting other peoples ideas and for the amount of winching i expect to be doing im now thinking, out with the old battery, move the water bottle and now you have stacks of room for one big Odyssey PC2150 battery. I know they are expensive but if i go down the route of two batteries connected together in paralell i don't think it will be any cheaper. And if i went down the route of two batteries and a split charge system that would be about the same...

now i'm thinking a bigger alternator to charge it...Any ideas on that one please ?
