wet plugs sounds likely, but I'd have thought that if the Crankshaft Sensor was faulty, the ECU warning light would illuminate on the dash

it also an intermittent fault (probably 40% of the time)

whatever the problem is .... think it's also related to my rubbish mpg of 28 mpg when driving gently ... apart from when I'm a speeding terrorist that is

might just have to get your wife come down and start it

There's no fault with the crank sensor, it's just it keeps doing it's job in the few seconds the engine is still turning when you stall it as the ignition is still on, as do the injectors, which is where the problem lies, as until it senses the engine has stopped, the ECU doesn't now it's stalling and keeps telling the injectors to squirt more in. It's only less than a second in that time of stalling but the engine's still turning, just.

That's the theory I have going on in my head anyway. I read similar for the RX8 also, so I see no readon it would be different for our engines, especially with the same problem.

Why yours does not start on the button I don't know - perhaps your spark plugs might need renewing???
