Well, searched and searched - haven't found a similar topic.

The driver's seat has developed a gash on the exterior lateral support area (presumably due to repeated rubbing when getting inside the car). There's a thin metal plate right in the middle, and two pieces of sponge on each side. I assume it's not the same sponge, so the metal blade didn't cut the sponge - the two pieces are different in colour:

I assume the side sponge somehow got away from the metal blade, leaving it exposed. Is there a way to remove the upholstery in order to put the sponge back to its right position ?

I was thinking if it's possible to do a quick fix (like remove the covers), but seems it's way above my tailor skills :( off to search for a reconditioning company then... thanks!

You can take the covers off mate no big deal just lots of faffing about with clips and trim bits could stitch repair the fabric and bond and shape some more foam over the metal before re fitting cover
