Your girlfriend is my kind of girl for two reasons:
she drives a Nova, my first and one of my favourite cars, here's the one I built in 2005/06.

and the fact that she fixes it, not you!
Cool lass!

I'd have liked a 1.3SR or really a Sport!
I had a black GTE which I bought from a wheeler dealer mate, so being a mate I trusted him but lived to regret it as it was rotten underneath.
It was an F plate '89 Gte but I bought a '92 K plate base model with a few dents but importantly, no rust.
I stripped it all and rebuilt the whole thing, engine, brakes the lot, except for the gearbox as that had just been rebuilt when I bought it.
It had a Bilstein shock and spring kit that only lowered it about 40mm but made it handle. A Mongoose exhaust and I swapped all the Mk1 front end across and the Gte bumpers and had a local body shop take out the dents and paint it in 2 Pack Vauxhall Carmine red.
The wheels were 15" Compomotive TH2'S.
I wish I had not sold it! The building of any car is the bit I enjoy though.
I don't have the time to do it again and I would never find a rust free shell again.
I do hanker after building another car though. A Mini or an Imp, an Anglia 105e or similar.
I need to get welding though.
