Thanks for the encouraging words guys,
I'm going to view/ possibly be buying my first jimny on Sunday
Should I be worried with 89,000 miles on a 2002 reg?

not really. As long as its been looked after with a good service history.
Give it a good go over like you would any other car and check for any unexpected clunks and groans.
If you have a bit of a search on here there are lots of posts asking what to look out for...
Most common problems are:
Heating\cooling - check its not overheating, warms up quickly and the heaters blow hot air
Deathwobble - around 40-50mph you can get a bad steering vibration. This can be as simple as wheels being out of balance but could be a whole list of other bearing\bushes issue. Most Jimnys seem to suffer this to some extent sooner or later. Some is just a mild shimmy, some give a terrifying experience!!
4WD - check the 4WD works, flashing light on the dash means problems if it has the original vacuum hubs. Don't drive it too far in 4WD though and only in a straightish line. If its on tarmac you should be able to feel if its working
Rust - The bodywork can be susceptible to rust, particularly under the jack in the boot (almost inevitable), the rear floorpan, and around the headlights

I'm happy to report that I got a jimny, not the one I set out for but an even better one and I'm made up with it.
I must admit motorway driving ain't it's thing at all haha
But I'm very happy with it.
Let the madness commence
