I am going to get another one was created by Fieldsports
After a nightmare with fuel consumption a couple of year ago with my old S reg Jimny
I have the need for another little 4x4 so believe it or not I have decided to try another one.
I am going for a 2007 SUZUKI JIMNY 1.3 VVT JLX + 3 Door

Do you think these are any better on fuel ?

Any advice please.

Steve

Have a look on fuelly.com and make sure you're in UK mode (top left).
Obviously it differs between drivers, but it doesn't vary much between engines although maybe slightly better with the VVT.

Edit; i need to make a profile for my jimny, maybe you should too if you need to keep an eye on consumption. It's a good tool ;)

How bad on fuel was your old Jimny? On road tyres driving on road within the speed limit you should be getting low to mid 30s mpg. If you were getting much less than that there was probably something wrong with the car (mine was doing 25mpg when I first got it due to a faulty lambda sensor). The new VVT ones are a bit better on fuel, but not massively.

My old S reg was lucky if it did 25mpg
I did all the normal parts change and checks to try and get a bit more but I never did.
The one I have got is on a 07 plate.
Just hoping that it does a little better than the last 1.

Good point was that it was mint off road on fields and places where I do a bit shooting.

Thanks

Hi Steve

sounds like you're gonna buy my 2007 JLX+

presume you'll be putting AT's on ?
I'm getting 28 mpg whether I take it easy or give it revs - makes no difference, presume that's what VVT is all about.
I do have a K&N filter and larger than std back box but don't know how much they hurt my mpg.

could probably get 29 or 30 mpg if I upped the tyre pressures, but personally I prefer better road holding and grip, so run tyres a couple of Lbs less

;)
