Australian 4wd Action Magazine

I've been buying this mag for a few months now from my local Londis / Jet Petrol Station and watched the trailor videos online and quite like it.

It's a 3 weekly Australian 4wd magazine (funnily enough) which if bought on a subscription comes with a 1 hour dvd, which is mainly about the staff writers trips into the bush etc. Like greenlaning but 100 times better from what I can see due to the vastness of Australia.

The mag and dvd's are not about hardcore competition trucks, more about trucks you can take into the back of beyond and live from. Mainly Landcruisers and Patrols.

There is little to do with Landrovers in it and not much to do with Jimnys either to be fair, but is still a brilliant read and watch.

I have had my first mag and dvd through today as a Xmas pressie and really enjoyed the dvd.

It's not cheap at just over £100 for 6 months but it takes me a fair time to get through the mag and the dvd is great. Plus it's 3 weekly not monthly.

If you like Dave's blogs on Bits4vits you will like this.

If we could have something UK based like this it would be awesome. Total Off Road doesn't come close. It would be tricky as the UK is so small but even adapted to take in video articles on peoples trucks (which they do in this mags videos too) and foreign trips made by staff writers it would be awesome. We have Europe at our disposal after all. Once in France the only difference these days is the food and language.

Being a staff writer or editor for a UK mag like that would be a dream job. Having your daily truck as your European greenlaning rig used to earn your living from!

So who wants to give me the money to start such a mag up then eh? No one I guess but I promise you all, if I win the lottery I'll do it!

In the mean time I'll get my magazine kicks from the mag from the other side of the world and for 10 minutes each month from Total Off Road being the only decent non Landrover based mag from the UK.

Those of you in Australia, you have a lovely country and I would love to live there.

I think Total 4x4 / Total off road just need to do more features on real life 4x4's. It must be hard to find something to write about, if its from a winter tyre review each year to another land rover which should stay in one of the land rover mags!
Maybe real people and what they do with their 4x4's.
Total use the 4x4 shows to find suitable 4x4's to feature, and even their own forum seems to struggle. Maybe they should visit pay and play days to find real people with 4x4's built to a budget.

You could do a really good online magazine by taking build threads from the likes of BJ and publishing them in a magazine style.

All the content we ever need is here. What the man on the street wants are good articles on how to mod 4x4's on a real persons budget.

Competition 4x4's are all very well but 99% of us dont have the means are budgets.

4wdTV is a good 1/2 hour Show on Community TV Station Ch 31 here in Melb. You can submit video or ideas/events to them and also watch programmes that have already aired on "Catch up TV". Video skills are steadily improving and they take viewers on plenty of intersting road trips around Victoria and all the other States. You get to see a lot of the bush and heaps of tips on recovery etc.
