I blocked off the bottom of my rad when I went to tong recently. This was more to stop it getting full of mud etc. It worked and didn't affect temps at all. I have removed out now though as it didn't look the best and I have the mot looming.

I have always the whole rad covered with cardboard in winter. I only take it out when offroading. It's hard to get the engine warm up without the cardboard when there's -20 out there!
