MP3 Player for the Jimny 2

Hi all,
Quick review and recommendation for an MP3 addon to the standard Jimny 2 radio.

I looked to change the head unit to a diskless or other MP3 player and failed to find a suitable dashboard plate to enable an aftermarket head unit to fit the Jimny 2 dashboard.

So looked for an alternative and discovered the Yatour MP3 player on ebay. This little gadget attaches to the Clarion CE-NET socket on the rear of the radio (I think all Jimny 2's have this socket, but check to make sure). The CE-NET socket is normally used to attach a CD multiplayer to the standard Radio CD player..

The Yatour MP3 player is a small black box which has three front facing ports - 1 SD card; 1 USB and 1 Aux 3.5mm jack socket.

On the rear is small socket for the CE-NET lead that attaches to the car CD player.

SD cards or USB sticks can be used with the Yatour to hold MP3 tracks arranged in a maximum of 6 folders. eg, CD01; CD02 etc up to CD06

I think each folder can hold up to 99 tracks.

With the addition of rear speakers, I have to say I am very impressed. The sound quality is great and it is easy to use.

The radio station presets are used to access the CD01 to CD06 folders. You can change tracks by using the up and down arrows on the front of the radio.

The only issues i have come across is that it only seems to play MP3 tracks. Any other file formats cause it to not play tracks in that folder.

Fitting requires the silver surround on the dash to be removed and refitted. A little tricky, but easy when you know how.

The small Yatour player can either be mounted in the glove box or as I have done, remove the ashtray and fit in there. I plan to try and fit a Mk1 Jimny LED clock (Anyone got a spare one?) and the Yatour MP3 player in the dash where the ashtray normally fits.

If you want more detailed fitting instructions. See Daniel Brooke Peig excellent guide -

Yatour MP3 for Jimny 2

He covers how to remove and refit the silver dash surround.

Daniel also has a excellent guide for fitting rear speakers too.

I think I paid under £50 including shipping from China via eBay.

Cheers all.
