Thanks again. I guess my default stance is to stick with 2WD then - until you can go no further!

The photo is from the Tormore quarry at Fionnphort, near where you get the ferry across to Iona.

Beautiful & unspoilt. We walked it 2 years ago, but this year walking is not an option.

The Jimny will take you to more difficult places than a beginner dares to drive to, and you don't have to be worried about breaking the truck if you use 4wd on hard surfaces, so just go and have fun. ;)

Have a look at these old Suzuki 4x4 videos showing driving tips which are still relevant whether it’s a 4wd gearstick or button shift

Thanks again - some great basic offroad tips in those videos Foxtrot. And as Paul4x4 says, Little Suzi out-performed my abilities in all locations & conditions on the holiday.

I'm totally hooked now. Can't wait to get her dirty again.

A cautionary note though. While she's not the fastest 4x4 available, she's still nippy around town - as my latest "41 in a 30" speeding ticket demonstrates :(
