Hi Neilnorth

I think I can help you as I reregistered my JImny in France about a year ago. You're right, you do need a Certificate of Conformity, in French, from Suzuki France. This is their address
Suzuki France SAS
8 Av des Freis Lomiere
78190 Trappes cedex
I rang them first, sorry don't have the number but easy to find, and at that time the cost was 142 Euros. Maybe more now.
To complete the registration process you will need
the original receipt when you bought the vehicle
V5 Document
Insurance certificate from a French company with the UK reg number
Proof of address in France - utility bill is ok - maybe 2 off I can't remember now
Passport
Controle Technique certificate (French MOT)

You then need to take the above, several copies is a good idea, to the Bureau des Impots who will give you a certificate saying there are no import duties payable, and then take the whole lot to the Sous Prefecture for your region. I think they charged 170 Euros to complete the reg process and issue a temporary Carte Grise. With this you can then get the new registration plates made, and get the insurance certificate updated. The full Carte Grise will follow in the post. Our local Sous Prefecture only does registrations in the morning, even though they are open in the afternoons as well!
We did all the above in one morning!
Just in case you don't know, in France the reg plates have to be riveted to the car, not stuck, screwed etc.

Don't forget that you need to change the headlights, I bought some secondhand ones through Le Bon Coin, and also rewire the rear fog light to the left hand side of the car rather than the right.

You're going to be busy!

Manual VVT, 2 1/2" lift, ORA castor corrected arms, 2" ORA body lift, 4:1 transfer box, Uprated front shafts & CVs ERM , ARBs back & front 3.9 diffs, 6 point cage, ORA winch bumper - Superwinch EP9, ORA rear bumper, ORA axle truses, Diff guards ERM , TBR tank guard, Snorkel, Kumho KL71.30.9.50 15
