The Samurai was around until 1995/1996 although you can find the odd one as late as 1998. The Jimny was from this date onwards.

As for insurance all I can say is try some of the ones specialising in imports or kitcars etc. and tell them it;s an imported Jimny convertible from?? and send them a pic with the explanation that it's called an SJ etc in that country. The fact it's RHD will help.
Assuming it is an import where did you buy it from?? Were you not told it's an import?? It should be on the V5 eg previously registered abroad?? and or first registered.
I don't want to worry you but have you done a vehicle check on the the dvla site or an hpi check?
I've done a quick search and can't find anything relating to the Jimny name even other countries with those numbers apart from the above link.
It may be a simple mistake in which case a quick inspection at your nearest VOSA may be all that is required to get the V5 changed. Any history, bills with the car?? Be careful about getting it insured until you can be sure of it's ID as they will use any reason not to pay out and cancel your insurance making you liable for any accidents and driving without insurance.
I started off high and worked my way down ever since
