just spent 10 minutes composing a reply to this and the session timed out ??????????????

anyway , it was me that reported cracking on technic trackers that i ran on a trooper. at only 3 months old and after about 2000 miles or so.
i think some of the cheaper tyres cannot stand our winter temperatures here . the rubber is very hard and they seem to crack in cold weather.
now running insa dakars and have not seen this happen to them yet. they are much quieter on road and behave much better. they also grip like i can't believe off road. way better than the trackers.
time will tell !!
if i could afford them i would run bfg km2 muds. but i cant so i'm on what i now believe to be the next best

standard jimny - for now

Mine are Malatesta Kaimans not Insa Turbo Special Tracks.

I am happy with them. They are as good as when I bought them a year on and grip like Insa Turbo Special Tracks, which you'd expect given they are the same.

I only picked them because of their size - 215/80/15's otherwise I would have gone for Insa Turbos as my friend can supply them and he and several others use them heavily in winch challenges.

The only issue is balancing them well can be tricky! Not sure if that's par for the course with such aggressive tread pattern.

Recip Trials do not have as deep tread as Insa Turbo or Malatesta Kaimans.

Insa Turbo Saharas are similar but with tread cuts in the arrow like dumper patter. I looked at them as they come in 215/80/15 too.

I chose this size as it's a close size to 235/75/15's but not so wide to catch bodywork but in practice they are massive and the same diameter as my mates old 205/80/16 Insa Turbo Special Tracks, so I may aswell have got them and used the spare GV wheels I have!

So many interesting points, going on the trackers and what happened to my insa s I'm thinking of maybe gettin a more premium tyre, or softer compound I have found on eBay Maxis 754 mt buckshot for 499 with steels these look like a very similar pattern to the bfg and when I went on maxis website it says they are NOT remoulds now 499 with steels and a good tread pattern seems quite a good deal ??

Hopefully other users/new off roaders will get something out this thread as there has been alot of valid points :-)

I will get a profile pick once I have this all sorted
