Well, I want to keep the alloys with Yoko's as spare just in case. I spent two evening to find second hand wheels without any result. (collection option only in most case but I can not go nationwide to pick them up)
2nd reason: I have no idea where can I get them blasted and power coated locally to keep the cost down. Lots of effort for the same result so I would choose the easiest way (maybe not the cheapest)

Here's my Jimny when it had 225 70 15s on 7x15 ex Vitara (and others) rims.
Oh right, so again the pic won't insert.

Hey there, Hun. I just painted mine black, as suggested above. You don't even have to get them blasted, if you have any rusty bits, just a quick rob over with some emery cloth, or wet "n" dry paper, then spray them with black hammerite/smootherite. They also sell some pretty good spray paint at Wilko's that will coat almost any surface without undercoat. It's obviously a wheels off job, and better without tyres, but you can still paint them with tyres on, just mask off the tyres with newspaper and masking tape. It's a super cheap diy job, and hard to mess up!
I bought 35mm spacers to widen my track, but also fitted 2" spring spacers to help clear the tyres from the arches when bouncing about. My tyres are Camac Terra 195/80/15, it all looks good, and works well together, with better ground clearance for not a lot of money.
I hope this helps.
Martin.

I use Wilko paint and apart from gold I use black. I have painted many including alloys - the prep is fairly important but it is no more than a rub down and sometimes an undercoat. I make a hoop of cardboard that sits on the outside edge of the rim where the tyre meets the rim; it can be swapped to each wheel as I work. Also I have a small piece of hose pipe to mask off the valve.
The last wheels I did were for my Junior and were in a fairly bad state though I have had worse.
I decided to try an undercoat
then the Wilko paint
And here's my Rav - before

What do you use to thin the Hammerite? I ask because Hammerite thinners itself is really costly.
