I use 10w 40 semi synthetic from Halfords.
I've been using their oil for years. It's good quality supplied to them by one of the big oil manufacturers, possibly Comma iirc. You also get 5L where all other brands seem to only give you 4L for the same money.
I'd use a genuine filter if you can though.

Our 1999 car which we had from new had semi synthetic 10w 40 as specified in the manual changed at 6,000 miles as advised in the service schedule and at 100,000 we sold it with no lubrication problems.
Our 2007 model with the VVT the engine oil is changed at 9,000 miles as advised by the latest service schedule and the handbook specifies 5w 30, we use Castrol Magnatec which is legally a full synthetic but is realy just a semi synthetic.

In my M13A 2004 Jimny I use 5w-30 fully synthetic. But I do get it at a really good price as I am in the trade.

Renault dealerships tend to have the cheapest oils I have found, £13 for 5l of pretty much any grade.
