Speaker upgrade

To get at the speaker,

Open the door.
Rip up the tread plate. This will be accompanied by snapping sounds as the moulded in pegs break off  but tough, mine hasnt had any for the last 2 years and the tread plates stay in place fine.
Stick your head under the dash. You will see an indent in the speaker panel, with what looks like a phillips head screw in the bottom of it. Rotate the screw 90 degrees and it goes click, and comes loose. It is actually a plastic reuseable rivet.
Prise the now free rivet out, and the panel lifts away and pulls backwards.

Remove the rusty speaker, and spend a couple of hours wondering where the water came from like I did, most likely the windscreen seal, and you can't do anything about it.

To replace, examine the rivet, and you will see how to rotate the centre so the rivet legs squeeze together then you press the centre inwards to force them out again.

The door tread will just click back into place.

I used some 4" Sony speakers I had knocking about, the suzuki ones come up on eBay for about £65

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
