removing jimny air bags

Old topic, but relevant to me as I want to replace the bog standard steering wheel. It looks like an MOT fail in the UK if you remove/disable airbags on a vehicle that was originally fitted with them:

So I'm thinking of changing the steering wheel and disabling the airbag system, but put the original wheel back on and enable the airbags when it's MOT time. I know I'm being bloody minded here, but it's my vehicle! I've owned 10 vehicles this past 30 years and only three have been fitted with airbags :whistle:

Like i said earlier, the insurance company will not be impressed in the event of a claim fault or not airbags deployed or not if it is inspected by a loss adjuster. They will log it as a non declared modification, vehicle not in roadworthy condition and almost certainly revoke the policy and claim leaving you very high and dry.
