If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

My 2007 model has it. Lights up when there's about 6 liters (out of 40) left. Indicator location pictured below:

Mine (52) doesnt have one - ive run it for short journeys on the red line before - even the dealer i bought it from told me that it would go for quite some time on the red when i took it for a test drive (it was on the red then). I've only come close to it running out before and that was after about 25 miles on the red - it was coughing and spluttering as i hooned it to the garage to refuel - made it though!!!! 
I have noticed though, that unlike other machines i've driven over the years, the fuel guage is fairly accurate and the truck doesnt cut out when going up or down, or across slopes when the tank is running low - other machines ive used have this problem at 1/3 full - not ideal on agri machines that spend most of their lives on slopes.

On my 2007, the fuel gauge drops quickly from full down to just under half, then seams to last forever (I wish), does your's behave similarly - or is it just me ?
