Let me bring a small contribution to the topic (although "slightly" late).

I installed a pair of rear speakers in my Jimny recently.

The factory holes for the rear speakers have 10 cm diameter, so they are meant for 4" speakers.

However, I found out that 5" (13 cm) speakers can easily fit regarding the clearance behind the plastic trim. But a 5" speaker can not fit into a 10 cm hole without some "interventions". The required intervention consists of widening the 10 cm holes. So, if you widen those factory rear speaker holes, you can fit 5" speakers and they will have no clearance issues with the plastic side trim which will cover the speaker.

The widening method which I used was to cut several short cuts around the hole in "radiant" directions (like sun rays on children's pictures) and then simply bend the cutout tin sections inwards.

P.S.: When I took my right door trim off for some door repairs, I noticed that there is another 8-10 cm hole in the lower left portion of the door. It looks like a speaker hole. What is its purpose, considering that the front speakers are already in the footwells? Could it be used for a third pair of speakers, or for high range tweeters? :)
