Weekend in Dumfries and Galloway was created by Soeley

Just come back from a cracking weekend up Scotland way with Northwest Overlander, we stayed at Newton Farm campsite which is right on the beach.
Got my firepit going nicely, it is new so had to try it out.
My Windbreak didn't stand up the the wind on Friday night!
Saturday morning I was up at 05:30, making a brew and caught this picture with the reflection down the side of my Jimny, my favourite picture of the weekend.
Our group parked up at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse.
Then we did a couple of forest tracks on the way back to the campsite, can't remember the name of the first one? The second one was Raiders Road, no off-roading this weekend, but some great roads to drive.
Both side of my Jimny looked like this Saturday night.
After the heavy wind and rain, the drivers side had a free power wash.

The only downside for me was that someone had spilled diesel on the road between Stranraer and Ayr and the typical Scotland drizzle made the surface appalling. Other than that its amazing, like the North Coast but different.

Just as a matter of interest Lambert, did you engage 4 wheel drive on the slippery section? This is another reason for having the ability on my LC to quickly engage 4x4.
No, I am not being snidey or difficult, this is one reason all my cars have 4 wheel drive capability. Every now and again this sort of situation will arise.

No I didn't engage 4x4 since the unpredictable level of grip would have caused the transmission to bind up. Instead I slowed down a few miles per hour and anticipated every subsequent corner to be in a similar condition. I also observed the other vehicles on the road ahead of me to judge the potential available grip. I did this because I understand the difference between grip and traction, I also understand that being lulled into a false sense of security by believing that I can maintain the previous level of speed simply because I am now in 4x4 shows a suicidal lack of understanding of the laws of physics.
