What's the legality of driving through water on the road where it's flooded with a road closed sign? There is no barrier only a closed sign further up and a standard car stuck to the side upto it's headlights. I know I can definitely get through it as I've been through a lot deeper flowing rivers than this puddle before.

Good question, its unlikely there will be a TRO so the sign may not have any legal standing. If there are any properties nearby you should avoid causing a bow wave that will go through them.
It's a smallish stretch of road over a small(usually anyway) canal. The Canal has flooded the road the nearest buildings are on a built up part so they can't flood. Might go have a look tomorrow or later if it keeps raining
Not that we have flooding down here but what's the advice for driving through water? Am I right in thinking you need to keep the revs up to stop water going up the exhaust?
The issue is flow. Flowing water pressure on the side of a vehicle. There is a Ford near us that becomes dangerous at about 18 inches. Takes the Jimny's rear wheels sideways. After flow then floating is the next issue if you find still water that's deep.

Keep the revs up but not excessive and follow the bow wave, don't go in too hot or you'll lose it if you keep to the bow wave it will help drag you through it
